Providing Detroit with services to meet their physical, emothional and spiritual needs



The Salvation Army, is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping people in need with out discrimination. One of the great programs the origination provides it the the Bed and Bread Program. The Bed & Bread Program serves nearly 5,000 meals to the hungry each day. That's approximately 1.7 million meals every year to men, women and children that would otherwise go without. In addition, The Bed & Bread Program provides nearly 500 homeless individuals shelter each night. That's nearly 167,000 nights of shelter annually (http://bit.ly/yAYfTz).

Put an End to Hunger in Detroit



For more than 35 years, Gleaners Community Food Bank has been "nourishing communities by feeding hungry people.” Last year, Gleaners distributed 40 million pounds of emergency food to over 600 partner soup kitchens, shelters and pantries in Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, Livingston and Monroe counties. We alleviate hunger by providing the equivalent of 85,284 meals per day to people who otherwise cannot afford the food they need (http://bit.ly/w0kIQf).

Goodwill Celebrates 90 Years



For 90 years, Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit has led the region's ongoing battle against unemployment. Goodwill Industries of Greater Detroit estimates it has served nearly 1 million clients and placed almost 90,000 individuals into jobs over its 90 year history. These Metro Detroiters have benefited from the nonprofit organization's employment training, education, support and job placement programs. 
In 2010 alone, Goodwill worked with more than 900 Detroit area employers to place 1,420 people into jobs.  As Goodwill continues to grow and evolve, it looks forward to many more years of transforming lives and the region's economy by helping Metro Detroiters become "trained, trusted and ready to work" (http://bit.ly/rs4t4P).
